51,000 Ft2 Commercial development on the Regents Canal in Haggerston, Orsman Road was a complex build, directly on to the Canal and hampered with early stage Weight & Foundation restrictions by the potential tunnelling for Crossrail II – Along with Waugh Thistleton Architects, rfm developed the idea of utilising CLT, a lightweight, sustainable alternative to Concrete decking – with the support of B&K Structures, the 6 storey hybrid steel & CLT structure was topped out & snagged within 14 weeks ready for cladding. BREEAM Excellent rating achieved and was Commended in the Sustainability & Climate Change category in 2020’s Hackney Design Awards.
